This error usually occurs due to IAM permissions issues. If the AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) entity trying to make a process on the AWS Config console does not have the correct permissions, then this error will be triggered.

Duplicate accounts or Invalid AWS Manager parameters in the AWS Config aggregator can also lead to this error.

How to fix "An error has occurred with AWS Config. Contact AWS Support."

Permission issues with the Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) bucket policy is the most common reason why this error occurs. To solve this issue, follow the Instruction below;

1. In the Amazon S3 dashboard, Navigate to the Amazon S3 bucket policy area and set the config.amazonaws.com service to allow write access permission for the target bucket.
2. Next Check the IAM entity permission and use the AWS Config full access policy.
3. Finally verify that the IAM entity has the necessary write access permissions for the s3:GetBucketAcl and s3:PutObject* buckets.

If the configuration aggregator of the AWS Instance have duplicate accounts, deleting the duplicate account will help fix this issue.
